Please only fantasy/mythology/nature based requests

Rates for Paintings only
: (This is a rough estimate of rates using the reference of images already created. Prices may vary according to time estimates and the amount of detail work in your piece)

$65-85- For a character with simple clothing, no background. (Reference my painting, “Flutterfly”)
$85-125- For a simple character(s), prop(s), with/without background. (Reference my paintings “Everlasting,” “Autumn Breezes,” “This Means War”)
$125-300- For one or more characters with background, scenery, props or knotwork. Reference my paintings “Heaven and Earth” and “Kindred Spirits”
$300-???- More than one character, background scenery, complicated brushstrokes (see the flames in “Fire Starter”) complicated knotwork, hidden creatures (Ref. “First Snowfall”) characters doing specific actions, etc. Reference “Night and Day Embrace” and “Brewing the Storm.”
For example, If you would like for example, a jewel encrusted sword with intricate celtic knots that takes up half the page with fire in the background, and an army or trolls fighting an army of winged monkeys.... Then I will charge accordingly. =)
I have created these rough price ideas using a pricing system mainly based on cost of materials, and the hours that will be spent on the piece. Painting as much as I have over the past few years I am good at estimating the amount of work that will go into creating an image.

I will require 50% of payment before I begin any work. Once you have approved the final sketch, I shall require the remainder of the payment before I work on painting. I will inform you of a rough deadline at that time.

All payments must be completed and cleared before I will ship the finished artwork. If you change your mind after the first 50% is paid, it is NOT refundable. I keep all work finished at that point and can do with it whatever I see fit. Full refunds are only given if I cannot complete the commission. I retain the copyright to all images, unless agreed on previously by both parties, and also all printing and publishing rights. All clients will be kept confidential. If there are any deadlines, please let me know as soon as possible. I will require a $50 rush payment for anything under four weeks.

Please check my Commission Status above to see how available I might be at the time. Even if the status says "closed" feel free to shoot me an email-- I just may not get back to you for a while until I am less swamped.

A bit more about my commissioned work and accomplishments: I have been drawing since as long as I could hold a pencil. More recently, I have been taking as many college level drawing/painting/composition classes as I can fit in my schedule. I am a full time student, an art major and am learning and improving constantly.  I have extensive training in color, human form, and basic drawing rules. While I have taken classes for many different mediums (oil, acrylic, etching, ink, charcoal, pencil, etc) I have been entirely self-taught in watercolors up until this year, 2011. I think it adds to the spontaneity and fun of the piece. My non-fantasy artwork has been in the San Francisco Chronicle (2003), the covers of the Danville and Pleasanton Weekly’s (three times, 2008-09- Click here to access the links). I’ve been working exclusively with watercolor in my fantasy art since 2008. Since 2008 I have completed over 50 fantasy paintings (which are up on the gallery of my website), sold my work at shows, become a participating artist in the Enchanted Visions Project, have been licensed with Queen Kat Designs- a stamp and fabric company, have been licensed with PSPTubestop, and started in house printing and shipping products from my home.

Frequently Asked Commission Questions
(and other things you should know)

Your image will be used at Claire's sole discretion to be sold as items including but not limited to prints, cards, bookmarks, PSP Tubes, stamps, and other licensed products, etc. Please keep this in mind when inquiring.

Q: I would like for the image not be reproduced, can you just paint it for me?
A: Sorry, but no. As stated above, your painting will be public and offered on various items. Though Claire enjoys painting, she has to turn a profit off the images created in order to continue being able to paint.

Q: I saw some of your black and white artwork in ink how do I request a black and white drawing?

Please go to this link (in blue). This directs you to my personal blog where further information about my ink drawings can be found.
Q: Can you paint me (or someone else) as a fairy, etc.?
A: Claire will paint in her own artistic style which you see in her art now. She does not paint in realism, or copy photographs. However, she will be glad to include features that make you (or your friend) unique-- ie: hair color, skin tone, clothing style preferrences, any piercings, etc.

Q: How do you come up with your rates?
A: Claire's charges are based on materials, hourly rate, and the complexity of the request. Tons of researching, referencing pictures, sketching, planning and quite a few "do-overs" go into every painting so she can make it as unique and amazing as possible. While Claire enjoys improving her artistic ability, all of this takes a lot of time and effort.
